I believe that most authors are strongly motivated to produce bestsellers. Many try their utmost, but often find that getting their works on any bestseller list is a rather elusive goal!
Many of us, I suspect, do not fully understand what authors (and those who guide and support them) are expected to do in order to reach the mountaintop on which bestsellers dwell.
In the days and weeks ahead, we will gather (and present on this blog) as much information on this tantalizing subject as we can.
Please visit our blogsite frequently, and leave a "comment" to encourage us if we are pointing in the right direction, or a word of caution if we seem to have lost our compass!
As a first step, though, let's turn to Wikipedia for their concept of what a BESTSELLER is:
A bestseller is a book that is identified as extremely popular by its inclusion on
lists of currently top selling titles that are based on publishing industry and
booktrade figures and published by newspapers, magazines, or bookstore
chains. Some lists are broken down into classifications and specialties
(number one best selling new cookbook, novel, nonfiction, etc.). The New York
Times Best Seller list is one of the best-known bestseller lists for the US.So, there we have it! Wikipedia has provided a good kick-off point. Let's leave it there for now!
Thanks.
