You Will Write A Bestseller. That's My Prediction!
Today, we have in a sense turned the corner, by making BESTSELLERS an important part of the content of this blogsite.
I believe that most authors are strongly motivated to produce bestsellers. Many try their utmost, but often find that getting their works on any bestseller list is a rather elusive goal!
Many of us, I suspect, do not fully understand what authors (and those who guide and support them) are expected to do in order to reach the mountaintop on which bestsellers dwell.
In the days and weeks ahead, we will gather (and present on this blog) as much information on this tantalizing subject as we can.
Please visit our blogsite frequently, and leave a "comment" to encourage us if we are pointing in the right direction, or a word of caution if we seem to have lost our compass!
As a first step, though, let's turn to Wikipedia for their concept of what a BESTSELLER is:

A bestseller is a book that is identified as extremely popular by its inclusion on
lists of currently top selling titles that are based on publishing industry and
booktrade figures and published by newspapers, magazines, or bookstore
chains. Some lists are broken down into classifications and specialties
(number one best selling new cookbook, novel, nonfiction, etc.). The New York
Times Best Seller list is one of the best-known bestseller lists for the US.So, there we have it! Wikipedia has provided a good kick-off point. Let's leave it there for now!
Thanks.

Good News From AVON Romance
Since ours is a Romance blog, we are happy to share (verbatim) the following information copied from the Avon Romance website"
"We're excited to announce that we have listened to many of our readers, and are now actively seeking romance with African-American heroes and heroines. These should be contemporary love stories of approximately 100,000 words, set primarily in the United States. This is not a 'line'. Each author will be packaged, and developed, individually. So, if your manuscript has the unforgettable emotion, irresistible characters--especially the hero--and sizzling sensuality that are hallmarks of Avon romance please send it right away."
How do I submit a manuscript?
Thanks for stopping by.

Please note Avon's new submission policy
To submit your historical or contemporary romance, please query first. We strongly urge you to query by e-mail. Your query should be brief, no more than a two-page description of your book. Do not send chapters or a full synopsis at this time. You will receive a response -- either a decline or a request for more material -- in approximately one to two weeks.
Please e-mail your query to avonromance@harpercollins.com
Thanks for stopping by.

Attention Romance Authors & Readers
Romance Authors!!
Here is a wonderful opportunity for you to let our global audience know all about the books you have already written, or which you plan to write in the near future.
Our BLOG entitled "Romance 500" hereby invites all authors to post a blurb or a brief synopsis of their published and/or unpublished books on our site, but each post should not exceed 500 words.
We expect an overwhelming response from authors who strongly desire to display their works before our global audience, and are therefore requesting that initially authors make no more than one post each month. However, we expect to keep our 'rules' easy and flexible, and will therefore review this request in a couple of months or so.
Displaying your works in this way will cost you nothing. It's all free! So, let's make the most of this opportunity!!
I think that the only requirement for you to be an active participant in this blog, is that you set up a GOOGLE name and password!!!
Let's go for it.
